The Sustainable Hydropower Conference took place on 23 and 24 November in Rio de Janeiro. The conference promoted expertise sharing, multilateral development and exchange of best practise on sustainable hydropower.
The conference was hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Brazil and the Centro de Pesquisas de Energia Elétrica(CEPEL) in partnership with the IEA.
It was the first event of the International Low-Carbon Energy Technology Platform in Latin America, the aim of the Technology Platform is to accelerate and scale-up action for the development and deployment of clean energy technologies.
The conference also saw the launch of an IEA roadmap on hydropower.
Keynote speeches were made by IEA Deputy Executive Director, Richard Jones and Minister Márcio Pereira Zimmermann.
